Live coverage: What’s happening as Utah hosts No. 22 Iowa State in home finale

Utah had its chance to pull off the win, but Iowa State used a late touchdown drive to pull out the win.
Luke Bottari, who entered the game late in the third quarter for an injured Isaac Wilson, led the Utes on a 91-yard touchdown drive and Micah Bernard’s 1-yard run gave Utah the 28-24 lead.
That followed a special teams touchdown, when a blocked punt resulted in a Utah touchdown earlier in the fourth quarter.
The Cyclones, though, drove 75 yards for the winning score — a 3-yard Carson Hansen run.
Iowa State had 405 yards of total offense, while Utah had 224.
Before Utah’s 91-yard touchdown drive, the Utes only had 99 yards of total offense on the night.

0:08 — Cole Becker missed a 54-yard field goal wide right, and Utah will lose its seventh straight.
1:31 — Iowa State answered with a big drive to retake the lead on Utah, scoring on a 3-yard Carson Hansen run. Iowa State 31, Utah 28.
The Cyclones used a halfback pass on third and short — Hansen hit Gabe Burkle for a 26-yard gain — to set up the score, as Iowa State drove 75 yards in 4:20.
5:51 — Thanks to an offensive drive sparked by backup quarterback Luke Bottari, the Utes are in the lead.
Micah Bernard snuck in for a 1-yard touchdown run, as Utah marched 91 yards in 10 plays. Utah 28, Iowa State 24.
Bottari ripped off runs of 40 and 16 yards to get the Utes into position to score.
14:41 — The Utes have life, thanks to a special teams touchdown.
Jackson Bennee blocked an Iowa State punt and teammate David Washington recovered it in the end zone for the score.
Utah then converted a two-point conversion with Luke Bottari in for an injured Isaac Wilson — Bottari found Caleb Lohner for the two points to make it a three-point game. Iowa State 24, Utah 21.

3:02 — Isaac Wilson is out, after taking a shot following a scramble. He is replaced by Luke Bottari.
5:02 — The Cyclones have made this a two-score game for the first time tonight.
Rocco Becht scored on a 1-yard touchdown run on fourth and goal, as Iowa State capitalized on a short field. Iowa State 24, Utah 13.
The Cyclones started the drive at the Utah 23 after recovering an Isaac Wilson fumble, then Iowa State was aided by a pass interference call on third down that set the Cyclones up with first and goal.

The Utes are still within striking distance at halftime, thanks to an 87-yard pick-six from Lander Barton.
Otherwise, Iowa State has dominated — the Cyclones have 243 yards of total offense to 76 for the Utes.
Utah has 26 rushing yards, while Iowa State has run for 91.

0:29 — Iowa State added to its lead late in the first half on a 35-yard field goal from Kyle Konrardy. Iowa State 17, Utah 13.
The Cyclones drove 58 yards in seven plays for the score.
3:32 — The Utes have made it a one-point game on a 47-yard Cole Becker field goal. Iowa State 14, Utah 13.
Utah long snapper JT Greep recovered a muffed punt at the Iowa State 17, but Utah went backwards on the drive before Becker hit his second field goal of the night.
8:05 — Iowa State is back out in front, after responding to the Utah pick-six with a long touchdown drive.
Carson Hansen scored on a 8-yard carry on third and 2 to give the Cyclones the lead back, capping the 75-yard drive. Iowa State 14, Utah 10.

Lander Barton had an 87-yard interception return for a touchdown, giving Utah 21 consecutive seasons with a pick-six — that’s the longest streak in FBS history, based off records on pick-sixes that only go back to 1996. Utah 10, Iowa State 7.
Barton came up with the interception near the ISU sideline, then fought through a tackle attempt early in the return before getting a clutch block late on his way to the end zone.
It’s the longest pick-six for a Utah defender since Jaylon Johnson went 100 yards against Stanford in 2018.

Iowa State was aided by a holding penalty on Utah on a field-goal attempt — when Caleb Lohner blocked the kick — and it gave the Cyclones a first and goal inside the 10.

Isaac Wilson threw a 46-yard pass to Daidren Zipperer on the first play of Utah’s opening possession to get the Utes into ISU territory, then Utah stuck with the ground game before its drive bogged down.
